Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to oversee multiple food service units, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. You will manage schedules, conduct training, and work closely with Shift Managers to optimize operations.

The role emphasizes strong supervisory and customer service skills, knowledge of HACCP and WHMIS, and ability to work in a unionized environment.

Qualifications

• At least one year of strong operation food industry management experience.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and lead staff.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and HACCP practices.
• Familiarity with unionized environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Shift Managers to supervise multiple food service units.
• Oversee production of menu items and cash readings; manage staff schedules and onboarding.
• Track weekly inventories, sales revenue, labor and food costs; assist with reporting.
• Engage with café patrons in a positive, enthusiastic manner and address issues.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, WHMIS, and HACCP standards.
• Coordinate workplace inspections and WHMIS training; report accidents to head office.
• Support HACCP adherence in the food preparation process.

• Learn from and assist the Shift Manager to resolve labor relation issues, track and produce reports on weekly inventories, sales revenue, labor and food cost.
• Communicate positively and enthusiastically to the café patrons and address their issues promptly.
• Ensure strict compliance with Compass’ Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
• Coordinate frequent workplace inspections and WHMIS training of all staff and promptly report any workplace accident or incident to head office.
• Ensure Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are followed in the food preparation process.

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
