Must be available for all shifts up to 24 hours per week - (Monday-Sunday; days, evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays). Shifts range from a start time of 06:30 to 20:00.

Salary Scale

CAD $26.39 - $26.93 per hour (2025 NOWU US01)

Job Description

Sinai Health is looking for aFood Service Representative to support ourPatient Food Services Departmentat Mount Sinai Hospital.

Meal Delivery Responsibilities
  • Deliver meal trays, menus, and snacks to patient rooms
  • Replenish bulk nourishment supplies to unit pantry, collect meal trays from patient rooms, clean and sanitize unit pantry
  • Prepare and portion patient menu items, snacks and bulk supplies for unit pantries
  • Work on Blean station preparing patient meals
  • Assist with the assembly, distribution, and pick up of patient meal trays
  • Follow portion control guidelines and therapeutic diet restrictions
  • Prepare and re-thermalize food items using the appropriate methods outlined by the department
  • Wash pots and pans, and work in the dish room
  • Transport and clean food carts
  • Collect and recycle and dispose of all garbage within the department
  • Ensure safe operation, maintenance and cleanliness of all other related equipment
Departmental Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean work area while following proper food handling and sanitation procedures including HACCP
  • Follow proper chemical handling instructions outlined by WHMIS
  • Demonstrate Sinai Health's core expectations of employee conduct; includes attending relevant continuing education sessions, following all Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures, complying with applicable Health and Safety standards and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Job Requirements

Mandatory

  • Successful completion of a high school diploma
  • 1 year of experience infood service in a health care setting
  • 1 year of experience in customer service
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the position which requires frequent exposure to extreme warm and cold temperatures, prolonged walking and standing (up to 7.5 hours), frequent independent and assisted lifting/pushing (25 lbs. or more), turning, stooping, reaching and bending at the arms, waist and knees for extended periods of time
Preferred
  • Successful completion of the Food Handlers course and WHMIS

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written
