Job summary

A leading staffing agency is seeking a maintenance technician in Hamilton, Ontario to support daily facility upkeep and equipment repairs. Ideal candidates should have a strong mechanical background, ideally with 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing settings. You will perform equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or high-speed production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

Job description

We’re hiring a maintenance technician to support daily facility upkeep, equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules. You’ll work hands‑on to keep operations running smoothly.

Ideal for someone who’s mechanically inclined and values precision and safety.

Job Type: Full‑time

Location: Hamilton, ON

Pay Rate: From $25 per hour (as per experience)

Hours: Day shift – Monday to Friday – starts between 6am and 9am

What You’ll Do
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on production machinery, packaging equipment, conveyors, boilers, pumps, and other facility systems.
  • Install, align, and dismantle machinery and mechanical equipment according to specifications and safety procedures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and equipment diagrams.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and minor electrical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Fabricate or modify parts as needed, using welding, machining, or other trade skills.
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to maintain safe, efficient, and food‑compliant operations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment history records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, health & safety standards, and GMP requirements.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Licensed Industrial Millwright (433A) or equivalent trade certification highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or other high‑speed production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Welding and fabrication experience an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to work full‑time hours as required by this position.
