Job summary

ARAMARK is hiring a Food Prep Worker in Ottawa to prepare and portion food items, following Aramark recipes and sanitation standards. Daytime shifts, Monday to Friday, with clean, orderly kitchen operations.

You will handle proper food handling, rotate stock for quality, manage leftovers, and assist with basic math and knife skills; reading and writing are required to communicate with the team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one-year prep work or food service experience.
  • Knowledge of food prep, knife handling, temperature control and sanitation helpful.
  • Must be able to read and write to communicate with others.
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills.

  • Prepare all food items using prep lists and standard Aramark recipes.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.
  • Manage leftover foods correctly; cover, label, date, and store safely.
  • Maintain clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
  • Ensure stations are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all food safety standards.
  • Follow safety policies and accident reporting procedures.
  • Complete all required training.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare all food items using prep lists and standard Aramark recipes.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.
  • Manage leftover foods correctly; cover, label, date, and accurately store according to Aramark standards.
  • Maintain clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
  • Ensure stations are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of the shift (including cleaning of kitchen equipment).
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all food safety standards and regulations.
  • Follow safety policies and accident reporting procedures.
  • Complete all required training.
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum one-year prep work or food service-related work preferred.
  • Knowledge of food prep, proper knife handling, temperature control, and sanitation is helpful.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate communication with others.
  • Demonstrates basic math and counting skills

Security Requirement

This role is located within a high security corporate facility. To meet mandatory federal background verification standards, candidates must have:

  • Lived in Canada continuously for the past ten (10) years.

This requirement applies to all personnel working on site and is necessary to obtain security clearance.
