Position Summary:

The Food, Beverage & Retail, Porter/Receiver is responsible for ensuring all deliveries for the Food and Beverage department are received, documented, and stored properly. They ensure the efficient set up and tear down of all Corporate Events as per established Banquet Event Orders. The Food & Beverage, Porter/Receiver is responsible for maintaining and reconciling product inventory and ensuring the work environment is clean and presentable. The Porter/Receiver reports to the Food, Beverage & Retail Shift Manager and is expected to be attentive to our guests\' needs by providing them with excellent customer service.

Please note this is a seasonal/contract position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greets guests in a polite and pleasant manner; answers questions regarding Niagara Falls and other local attractions
  • Receives and unloads product from vendors
  • Maintains logs and necessary paperwork with respect to receiving product
  • Stocks and displays product as needed
  • Organizes and cleans freezer/cooler
  • Ensures all products are properly rotated on a daily basis with the First In/First Out procedures
  • Ability to quickly respond to changing work volume with high energy and speed
  • Assists in keeping work area clean
  • Performs multiple tasks at one time, while maintaining professional composure
  • Advises Shift Manager/Supervisor when food, beverage and/or retail stock is in need of ordering
  • Sets up and tears down Corporate Events in Event tent
  • Assists the Food, Beverage & Retail Counter Server when needed; provides courteous and professional customer service at all times
  • Works as a team under stressful conditions during high volume business levels
  • Complies with Health & Safety standards, company and departmental policies and procedures and legislative requirements
  • Attends training and departmental meetings as scheduled by management
  • Able to work on land as well as on the boat
  • Adheres to all health and safety regulations
  • Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
  • Ability to work various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook)
  • Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts
  • Understands all policies and procedures relating to the employee’s role within the company
  • Maintains any applicable licenses and certifications
  • Completes any other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
  • 1-2 years of experience in food and beverage preferred or customer service experience preferably in a hospitality environment
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, attention to detail and troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced work environment
  • Familiar with Alcohol and Food regulations, laws and practices
  • Knowledge of another language in addition to English is preferred
  • A positive attitude and good work ethic
  • Must be able to work all shifts including days, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 60 pounds (27 kilograms)
  • Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods
  • Continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors
  • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection)
