Full-Time Permanent Position

Position Overview

The Fluid Production Manager is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations, consisting of the collection of the de-icing fluid, fluid processing and distillation operations, and manufacturing of de-icing fluid (ADF). The Fluid Production Manager is further responsible for supporting the company goals and objectives and promoting the business interests of the company by conducting him or herself in a professional manner while maintaining excellent customer service and good public relations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and coaching to increase overall safety, performance, maintenance, reclamation operations, facility requirements and customer service;
  • Managing all aspects of the daily fluid production operations including, Glycol Recovery Vehicle (GRV) operations, fluid transfer procedures, valve management procedures, glycol processing and distillation operations and manufacturing of deicing fluid (ADF).
  • Complete any and all maintenance upgrades recommended by engineering;
  • Foster communications between shift changes that ensure current machine conditions are brought to the attention and acknowledgement by the oncoming crew utilizing the pass down log book or verbally;
  • Participate in airport joint operational committee meetings and working groups in order to provide input into the development of local Glycol Management Plans, local fluid management procedures and solutions to ongoing operational issues;

Note: Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable Transport Canada Security Clearance and additional authorizations (Restricted Area Identity Card and Airside Vehicle Operators Permit).

Required Skills and Experience
  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in a technical field related to fluid processing operations, general management, mechanical systems or a related field of study considered an asset;
  • 5+ years of operational supervisory or management experience including but not limited to process and equipment operations, maintenance, fluid management, facility requirements and safety / regulatory requirements;
  • Previous experience managing in a chemical or manufacturing process environment is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of regulatory and airline policies, warehouse procedures, operating station equipment, and aircraft handling procedures;
  • Must have the ability to mentor and train personnel and management to accommodate future growth and expansion;
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to listen to others and value opinions, interpret information, promote and execute ideas, prepare reports and presentations, lead groups and provide foundation of open communication;
  • Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change in order to support the growth of the company and meet needs of customers.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Work Environment

The Fluid Production Manager will have a mixture or operational and office duties. Time will be spent on the production floor ensuring that operational goals are being achieved. There may be exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and / or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment can be excessive at times. There will be times when the Fluid Production Manager will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and / or operational requirements.

Physical Demands
  • It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
  • Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally;
  • Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;
  • Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;
  • Must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;
  • May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.
