Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre Inc. seeks a Floor Supervisor to support the Manager in overseeing daily food service operations and lead front-line staff. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient service while maintaining exceptional customer service standards for Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre and Food Service Outlets.
  • Perform opening and closing duties for the department, including checklists, deposits, and corrections.
  • Use positioning charts to assign duties and follow up to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings for AM and PM shifts.
  • Operate cash registers and process payments, refunds, and gift cards.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure daily checklists are completed.
  • Resolve escalated customer service concerns independently.
  • Assist in training Food Services employees aligned to brand requirements.
  • Provide on-floor coaching and performance feedback to team members.
  • Support employee development by identifying training needs and gaps.
  • Assist the Assistant Manager with operational reports and checklists.
  • Find shift coverage when staff are unavailable and schedule meal breaks.
  • Conduct inventory counts and manage stock levels for outlets.
  • Place orders with approved vendors based on par levels and forecast demand.
  • Monitor usage, waste, and variances to improve inventory control.
  • Process deliveries and resolve issues, reporting shortages or discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized storage areas and accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain brand standards and enforce policies for outlets.
  • Know menus, promotions, pricing, and product launches.
  • Communicate with Building Operations, IT, Caretaking, and Events to resolve issues.
  • In absence of management, act as point of contact for inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to food handling, health, and safety standards.
  • Identify hazards in real time and support incident response and follow-up.
  • Comply with OHSA, Human Rights Code, and Employment Standards Act.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment and assist with food prep as required.

Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre Inc. is currently seeking a full time Floor Supervisor to join our team!

The Floor Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Manager and Assistant Manager in overseeing daily food service operations and ensuring shift performance, operational standards and service expectations are consistently achieved in the Food Service Outlets. This role provides leadership to front-line staff, make real-time operational decisions, ensures standards are maintained, supports staffing and scheduling needs, and is responsible for inventory control and ordering. The Floor Supervisor leads by example and provides excellent customer service for the patrons of Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. They also act as Manager on duty in the absences of Food Service Management, supporting business continuity, resolving escalations and coordinating with internal departments.

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide efficient service while maintaining exceptional customer service standards for Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre and Food Service Outlets
  • Perform opening and closing duties for the department, including ensuring staff are following opening and closing checklists, counting floats, processing deposits, identifying deficiencies, and correcting them
  • Use positioning charts to assign primary and secondary duties for staff during each shift and follow up to ensure tasks are completed
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings for both AM and PM shifts
  • Operate cash registers and process accurate customer payments, including payment corrections, refunds, Tbucks, meal plan payments, gift cards, and all other approved payment methods
  • Delegate tasks to team members and ensure daily checklists are completed
  • Resolve escalated customer service concerns independently
  • Assist in training Food Services employees in compliance with Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre and brand requirements
  • Provide on the floor coaching, guidance and performance feedback to team members
  • Support employee development by identifying training needs and performance gaps
  • Assist the Assistant Manager with daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports including opening, mid-day, closing, and weekly checklists, Manager Walk-Throughs, Coffee Call to Action, FPL, Always Fresh, calibration, sales reporting, and other required documentation
  • Assist in finding shift coverage when staff are unable to attend work
  • Schedule and coordinate meal breaks for staff on duty
  • Conduct inventory counts for Food Service Outlets and maintain appropriate inventory levels based on business demands
  • Place orders with approved vendors and distributors based on par levels, sales trends, upcoming events, and forecasted demand
  • Monitor product usage, waste, and variances to identify opportunities for improved inventory control
  • Process deliveries and resolve any issues associated with deliveries by reporting shortages or discrepancies immediately, completing required paperwork, and communicating with management for follow-up
  • Maintain organized storage areas, ensure proper stock rotation, and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Maintains brand standards and enforcing policies for Food Service Outlets
  • Be knowledgeable regarding menus, promotions, pricing, and product launches
  • Communicate with other departments, including Building Operations, IT, Caretaking, and Events, to resolve operational issues and provide updates to management
  • In the absence of Food Services management, act as the point of contact for inspections and communicate with the Food Services management team accordingly
  • Ensure adherence to all food handling, health and safety standards, policies, and procedures during shifts
  • Identify and address hazards in real time, and support incident response, documentation, and follow-up
  • Comply with and reinforce all applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, and Employment Standards Act
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment and assist with food preparation and cooking as required, including using pizza ovens, grills, deep fryers, coffee equipment, juice equipment, and other food service equipment Be proactive, punctual, reliable, and highly organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work and service area including tables, shelves, walls, cooking equipment, and storage areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned
The successful candidates will possess the following qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of food service and leaderships experience
  • Minimum 2 years of cash handling experience, be competent in using cash register and process accurate payments
  • Minimum 1 year of professional kitchen cooking experience
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C or Intermediate First Aid and CPR
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification is mandatory
  • Smart Serve is mandatory
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and customer concerns with confidence;
  • Excellent leadership and time management skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;

Hours of work:

Successful candidate must be available to work shifts between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 11: 00 p.m., including weekends and holidays. On occasion, operational or event requirements may require shifts outside of these hours.
