Fleet Service Technician - Casual (4 months ++)

Iqaluit, Nunavut

Reporting to the Manager, Distribution and Fleet Operations, the Fleet Service Technician is responsible for traveling to communities across the territory to conduct inspections and perform maintenance on corporate vehicles. The position is also responsible for recording detailed inspection and maintenance records, maintaining optimal inventory of consumable items and replacement parts, conducting dielectric testing, updating the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and providing advice with respect to vehicle specifications during the tendering process.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Travels to communities across the territory to conduct inspections and perform corrective maintenance on corporate vehicles.
  • Assists in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to improve the operability of corporate vehicles.
  • Performs specialized maintenance on radial boom derrick trucks and line maintenance aerial vehicles and associated devices.
  • Tracks and reports fleet usage and analyzes maintenance costs to provide recommendations on fleet utilization and replacement.
  • Assists in the development of the maintenance budget by providing input related to maintenance and utilization.
Required Qualifications Include
  • Interprovincial Red Seal certification as a Truck and Coach Technician, or similar trade qualification
  • Valid class 3 driver's license and satisfactory drivers abstract.
Assets
  • Experience in diesel power generation is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language, and culture.
  • The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and/or French.

We offer a competitive salary range of $113,838.40 to $132,059.20 and a northern living allowance of $16,008.00 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined‑benefit pension program. Accommodation is provided. Will be allocated when available. This position is included in the Nunavut Employee's Union.

Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
