Job description

Our Engineering and Public Works Department is seeking a dynamic individual to join our multi-disciplinary team as a full-time Fleet Assistant. If you enjoy working on equipment and vehicles of all shapes and sizes thrive in a busy work environment are a self-starter with an excellent work ethic wed love to hear from you!

We are looking for an individual who is detailed‑oriented has a positive outlook and uses their excellent service skills to provide high‑quality outputs. The incumbent performs checks upkeep and minor maintenance to vehicles and equipment cleans the garage and related areas fuels and cleans vehicles operates a forklift for loading unloading and moving parts and equipment and controls the inventory of shop addition the incumbent is required to pick up parts and drive vehicles and equipment to and from external service shops and suppliers. The work is performed under general supervision and considerable independence of judgment and action is exercised.

Qualifications

Along with the completion of high school graduation (or equivalent) the preferred candidate will have considerable experience in operating trucks and equipment and sound garage experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Class 3 British Columbia drivers license with Air Endorsement is required for this position and a satisfactory drivers abstract will be required before employment can be confirmed.

Additional Information

The January 1 2025 rate of pay for this position is $33.53 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package upon successful completion of the probationary period including the Municipal Pension Plan. The hours of work for this position are 7 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday OR Wednesday to Saturday.
