We are currently seeking a detail oriented Fixed Assets Accountant with exceptional written and verbal communication skills to join our team. The Fixed Assets Accountant will report to the Director, Taxation and Capital Assets.

Responsibilities

As the Fixed Assets Accountant, you will be an integral member of the team. Duties include:

  • Reviewing additions with various departments to ensure purchases are being correctly classified between fixed assets and operating costs
  • Transferring purchases from the construction in progress accounts into the fixed assets subledger
  • Reconciling construction in progress accounts
  • Processing fixed assets amortization and other month end journal entries
  • Preparing month end reports for various departments
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting
  • 5 years of related experience or combination of experience and education
  • Experience with Oracle Financials is an asset, but not required
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively to individuals both within and outside of the organization
  • Able to work independently under minimal supervision
