Fire & Security Engineer

Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per annum + Call Out + Overtime. Location: Peterborough (London based company / Harlow). Employment Type: Full Time | Permanent | 40 hours per week.

Do you have experience servicing and maintaining both fire and security systems? Are you confident fault‑finding across a range of addressable fire panels and CCTV/access control systems? Attega Group is working on behalf of our client as their in‑house recruitment provider and are currently recruiting for a Fire & Security Engineer to join their team covering Peterborough and surrounding.

Role Purpose

The main purpose of this Fire & Security Engineer role is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance, installations, and fault‑finding across a range of fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and door entry systems, ensuring high standards of customer service and system reliability.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: up to £42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • Standby: £150 per week (1 in 2 rota due to geographical coverage).
  • Overtime: Time and a half (Saturday), Double time (Sunday & Bank Holidays).
  • Company van with fuel card.
  • 22 days holiday (rising to 25 with service) + 8 bank holidays + birthday leave.

Hours

This role is full‑time and permanent. The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 16:30pm.

Reporting

Reporting to the Service Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on Fire Alarms, Emergency Lighting, AOVs, CCTV, Access Control, and Door Entry systems.
  • Responding to reactive service calls and diagnosing system faults.
  • Completing small installation and upgrade works where required.
  • Conducting site surveys and supporting project estimations.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with relevant British Standards (BS5839‑1 & BS5839‑6).
  • Maintaining accurate job records using electronic systems.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and representing the business professionally at all times.
Qualifications
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in the Fire and/or Security industry.
  • Strong knowledge of systems such as Kentec, Morley, Advanced, C‑Tec, Entrotec, Paxton, Hikvision, and Dahua (or similar).
  • Confident in fault‑finding, testing, and commissioning.
  • Understanding of cause & effect programming advantageous.
  • FIA or equivalent fire training desirable.
  • IT literate (Outlook, Excel, engineering apps).
  • Full UK driving licence (max 6 points).
  • Must pass DBS and employment checks.
