About this Role

As the Finishing Foreman you are responsible for managing sub-contractors for all finishing trades and taking the site from second phase through the completion and handover. The Finishing Foreman is responsible for the scheduling of all sub-contractors and employees for this phase of all homes on the site and works in conjunction with the Site Superintendent to lead the project team. The Finishing Foreman plans crew activities in the short and long turn, resolves finishing construction issues, maintains a high standard of safety and quality, manages small-to medium-sized projects or directs one portion of a major project, and overseeing proper protocols in the field. The Finishing Foreman provides technical management and project leadership on construction projects at the field level and supports the vision, mission, and strategic goals of Tartan Homes Corporation.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Schedule Management
  • Manage all subcontractors performing finishing services.
  • Direct day-to-day on-site finishing activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain construction and finishing management plans.
  • Monitor, update, and maintain finishing schedules.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and in accordance with contracted scopes of work.
  • Plan, schedule, and review crew activities and work assignments.
  • Plan and review drawings and specifications.
Coordination & Communication
  • Coordinate activities between the site team, trades, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Resolve finishing-related issues efficiently and proactively.
  • Liaise with the Customer Service Department on warranty matters, as required.
  • Manage customer service concerns and homeowner issues related to finishing work.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure the site safety program is followed in collaboration with the Site Superintendent and Health & Safety Manager.
  • Maintain and enforce quality control standards, including completion of daily inspections.
  • Ensure accuracy of all home finishes and homeowner upgrades.
  • Verify accuracy of trade progress claims and completion requests.
  • Ensure adequate human and material resources are in place to meet safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and maintain good site housekeeping practices.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma required; a college diploma (e.g., Architectural or Construction Management) is an asset.
  • Red Seal Carpenter certification is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of construction and finishing site experience; residential construction experience is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of residential supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods and blueprint reading.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of construction execution and industry best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • High level of initiative and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Basic technology proficiency: experience using scheduling software is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
Physical/Sensory Effort and Work Environment
  • Residential construction site.
  • Must be of good physical condition to perform various duties on site.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Overtime as required.
