Role
What is the role of a Financial Planner? As a Financial Planner, you will focus on developing and deepening mass affluent client relationships by providing high quality advice and service. As a dedicated entrepreneur, you know how to build and leverage your external / internal networks and centres of influence and understand that growing a practice is all about building new and long-term relationships.
- External clients – You engage in proactive client outreach to individuals outside the Scotiabank network, showcasing the value a Financial Planner brings to their financial journey. Through meaningful conversations and tailored guidance, the goal is to empower clients to clarify, pursue, and achieve their financial objectives.
- Internal clients – You deepen client relationships by identifying and engaging with existing Scotiabank clients who may have limited interaction with the bank. You pursue opportunities and cultivate connections, coordinating with branch partners to access Scotiabank resources for every client interaction.
As a Financial Planner you are
- Driven by purpose and determination, delivering personalized investment and financial planning advice to help clients achieve their goals.

Responsibilities
- Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, drive investment sales and new client acquisition while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Establish business development opportunities with prospects and clients within the assigned market area.

- Business Development: Execute plans for mass affluent prospects and existing clients, identify opportunities, and facilitate investment solutions or referrals to partners.
- Client-centricity: Provide client-centric investment solutions through a planning framework, conduct outbound communications, needs analyses, and stay top-of-mind for future opportunities.
- Community Involvement: Participate in local events, deliver financial seminars, build a market profile, and network with investment specialists while managing a small marketing budget.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
- Mutual fund certified with current accreditation and good standing for CIRO licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
- Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
- Proven networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills; experience with Centres of Influence (COIs).
- Goal-oriented and entrepreneurial; able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Extensive knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions, and the regulatory environment.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to meet clients in the designated district.

Other Information
Please note that the compensation structure for this role is base plus variable pay. This is a mobile role and will require frequent travel.
