A growing chemical manufacturing company in Vancouver is seeking a Financial Manager to oversee financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations across North America. The successful candidate will lead and develop the accounting team while ensuring high-quality financial processes. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, a CPA designation, and 5–7 years of progressive experience. Position: Financial Manager

Location: Vancouver, BC

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Role

The Financial Manager is responsible for delivering timely and accurate internal financial reporting, overseeing daily accounting operations across North America, and strengthening internal controls.

This role plays a key leadership function in managing and developing the accounting team while ensuring consistent, high-quality financial processes that support both operational and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and review monthly internal financial reporting packages, including variance analysis and key financial insights.
  • Provide reliable and timely financial data to support the CFO in operational and strategic decision-making.
Accounting Operations & Internal Controls
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for North American entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and operational risks; lead process improvements and internal control enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support a strong month-end close process with consistent execution and documentation.
Team Leadership & Performance
  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team to improve performance, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Establish clear expectations, workflows, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and attention to detail.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and information flow.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, documentation improvements, and scalable reporting processes as the business grows.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including people management.
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close, management reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting multi-entity and/or North American operations is preferred.
