Job summary

Extendicare, through ParaMed, is seeking a Financial Analyst at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. This role supports month-end close, reconciliations, variance analysis, and accurate financial reporting across Canada in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 1–2 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Working towards CPA designation (preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in identifying, investigating, analyzing, and reporting variances.

Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounts and prepare monthly/annual financial reports.
  • Own the month-end close process for balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Prepare, maintain, and reconcile complex accounts.
  • Prepare budget-to-actual and variance analysis to support business decisions.
  • Support preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Drive finance process improvements through problem-solving and fresh perspective.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and other finance team members.
  • Prepare documentation to support compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage auditor requests and submissions to external parties.

Job description

Job Description Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the Financial Analyst supports the accounting activities, month-end close, reconciliations, variance analysis, and accurate financial reporting. The role also contributes to compliance and regulatory requirements as needed. The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, attention to detail, and a strong drive to learn while supporting our culture of care across Canada. This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage general ledger accounts and prepare monthly/annual financial reports.
  • Own the month-end close process for balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Prepare, maintain, and reconcile complex accounts.
  • Prepare and present budget-to-actual and variance analysis to support business decisions.
  • Support preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Drive finance process improvements through problem-solving and fresh perspective.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and other finance team members.
  • Prepare documentation to support compliance and regulatory reporting.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.
