Job summary

Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited is seeking an Inventory Accounting professional for an 18-month contract in Toronto. You will prepare journal entries and reconciliations, support closing activities, and drive process improvements across the organization.

Bring 2-3 years of accounting experience, IFRS knowledge, CPA pursuit, and advanced Excel skills. Hybrid work arrangement with in-office collaboration four days a week and strong cross-functional partnering are essential.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA designation.
  • 2-3 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Copilot, Power BI, HFM, or PeopleSoft is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis related to inventory, obsolescence, shrink, and foreign exchange.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities.
  • Investigate variances, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Partner with Finance and business teams to resolve accounting issues and support key business initiatives.
  • Execute and maintain key financial controls and support audit requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, simplify, and improve processes and reporting.
  • Leverage technology and analytics tools, including Copilot, to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.

What You'll Do:

In this 18-month contract, reporting to the Manager, Inventory Accounting, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting business initiatives, improving processes, and helping drive efficiencies across the organization.

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis related to inventory, obsolescence, shrink, and foreign exchange.

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid: In‑office 4 days a week)

  • Salary Range: $27/hr – $45/hr CAD. Our typical hiring range is between $27/hr and $36/hr. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
