Job summary

Brandt Corporate Services Ltd in Calgary is seeking a Financial Analyst to support decision-making through financial planning, analysis, and reporting. You will work with cross-functional teams to reconcile ledgers, produce monthly/quarterly reports, and mentor junior staff while ensuring accuracy and timely delivery in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business/Accounting required, CPA preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience as Financial Analyst or Senior Accountant.
  • Solid understanding of financial metrics, corporate finance, and accounting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player who can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a drive for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze divisional and departmental monthly/annual financial statements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide operational-level analysis on monthly financials and trends; identify areas for improvement.
  • Reconcile GL accounts and prepare month-end journal entries with supporting documentation.
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management use.
  • Analyze large data sets to draw meaningful conclusions and recommendations.
  • Analyze P&L variances to prior performance and budgets.
  • Collaborate with divisions for intercompany processing and reconciliation.
  • Partner with operations and business development teams as needed.
  • Assist with working papers for quarterly and annual reserves and allowances.
  • Support documentation for annual external audits.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff and mentor where appropriate.
  • Advise on accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, and reporting.
  • Identify internal process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Support continuous process improvement and ad-hoc projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Brandt Corporate Services Ltd is currently seeking a Financial Analyst for our Calgary location.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting business decision-making through financial planning, analysis, and reporting. This role prepares forecasts, analyzes variances, develops management reports, and provides insights to improve financial performance and support strategic initiatives.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Prepare and analyze divisional & departmental monthly/annual financial statements while striving to ensure their accuracy and completion on a timely basis.

Provide operational level analysis on monthly financials and trends and highlight the areas for improvement.

Reconcile GL accounts and prepare month end journal entries with supporting documentation.

Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management use.

Ability to analyze large data into meaningful conclusions with recommendations.

Analyze profit and loss variances to prior performance and budgets.

Works with different divisions for intercompany processing and reconciliation.

Partner with other operations and business development teams on a need basis.

Assist/prepare working papers required for quarterly and annual reserves & allowances.

Assist with the preparation of documentation required for the annual external audit.

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

Provide insight into various accounting requirements including CRA requirements.

Provide advice and guidance on accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.

Identify internal process gaps and provide recommendations for improvements.

Other tasks and responsibilities as they arise.

Assist in continuous process improvement and ad-hoc projects.

Other duties as assigned.

What We Look For

University degree in Business/Accounting, preference will be given to those who possess an advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CPA).

2 - 3 year(s) experience working as a Financial Analyst or Senior Accountant role.

Solid understanding of financial metrics, corporate finance, and accounting.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Able to work as part of a team and independently.

Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with drive for continuous improvement.
