Avison Young Vancouver is seeking a Financial Analyst to join a fast-paced Capital Markets team. You will build financial models, assist with deal structuring, and analyze market data to support client and internal initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Finance and/or Real Estate with strong academic achievement and quantitative skills.
• Understanding of real estate fundamentals, economic metrics and research processes.
• Strong grasp of financial concepts and ability to translate qualitative/quantitative data into deliverables.
• Excellent written and spoken English with superior grammar.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint; Argus experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Produce financial models (Argus/Excel) including cash-flow/pro-forma projections and development models.
• Assist with deal structuring, scheduling and client/internal stakeholder communication.
• Gather and evaluate market and economic data for project deliverables.
• Write proposals and offering materials using effective planning.
• Prepare presentations and pitch materials for new business pursuits.
• Create research pieces for events and presentations.
• Conduct market surveys including sales and lease comparables.
• Identify, analyze and support brokerage opportunities.
• Support daily production pipeline workflow and status.
• Identify market opportunities, conferences, speaking engagements and networking.
• Maintain knowledge of regulations and adapt quickly to changes.
• Review leases, loans and engagement letters; assist with miscellaneous tasks.

Overview

The Avison Young Vancouver office is seeking a Financial Analyst, able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment with a team of senior Capital Markets brokers.

The base salary is aligned with market data and is estimated to be between $50,000 to $65,000 with the ability to achieve additional compensation through a bonus. This salary range reflects base compensation for the position across all Canadian locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and other factors, including relevant education/training, experience, and internal equity. This posting is for an existing vacancy withing our organization.

Responsibilities

• Produce financial models (using Argus and Excel) of varying complexity, including but not limited to detailed cash-flow/pro-forma projections and development models
• Assist with deal structuring and scheduling and communicating with clients and internal stakeholders
• Gather and evaluate economic, demographic and real estate market data for input into project specific deliverables
• Write proposals and offering materials for new or existing assignments and pursuits utilizing effective work planning capabilities
• Assist with preparation of presentation and pitch materials for new business pursuits
• Prepare research pieces for special events and presentations
• Conduct market surveys including sales and lease comparable
• Identify, analyze and support the pursuit of brokerage opportunities
• Assist with the daily management and workflow of the production pipeline
• Assist in developing Avison Young’s profile in the market by identifying marketing opportunities, including conferences, speaking engagements and networking
• Maintain current and fluid knowledge of regulations and adapt to changes quickly
• Assist in reviewing legal documents such as leases, loans, and engagement letters
• Assist in ad-hoc work as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Economics, Business Finance and/or Real Estate with a strong record of academic achievement and demonstrated quantitative skills
• Understanding of real estate fundamentals, economic metrics and research processes
• Strong understanding of financial concepts
• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information and translate into strategic deliverables
• Superior grammar and business writing skills
• Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop) with experience in Argus considered an asset
• Attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work independently and within a team on a wide variety of projects
• Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure and effectively manage time and workload
• Advanced internet research capabilities
• Professional, entrepreneurial, high-energy individual, with aptitude to learn new concepts and software
• Recent work experience in commercial real estate would be considered an asset
