Job summary

Kelly is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst IV to join its Capital FP&A team in Toronto. This role emphasizes budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, working with large data sets, and translating results into actionable insights for senior leadership.

You will consolidate capital financial information, support quarterly forecasts and annual budgets, and provide financial analysis to stakeholders across Finance, Asset Management, and Business Operations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive FP&A, financial reporting, or related finance roles.

  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Consolidate monthly and quarterly capital financial results, including budgets, forecasts, and actuals.
  • Perform financial analysis and variance reporting against budget and forecast targets.
  • Support the development and consolidation of in-service capital forecasts.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, including preparation of supporting schedules and analysis.
  • Provide financial support, reporting, and insights to Finance, Asset Management, and business stakeholders.
  • Consolidate forecast data and calculate applicable overhead allocations.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Asset Management teams to understand and validate forecasting methodologies.
  • Support long-range planning, annual budget cycles, and periodic forecast updates.
  • Prepare management reporting packages and executive-level presentation materials.
  • Deliver ad hoc financial reporting, analysis, and decision-support recommendations.
  • Ensure reporting compliance with regulatory requirements and financial governance frameworks.
  • Support SOX controls, audit activities, and risk management initiatives.
  • Participate in process improvement and process alignment initiatives across the FP&A function.
  • Assist in communicating financial policies, procedures, and changes throughout the organization.

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst IV to join their Capital FP&A team. This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting experience who enjoys working with large datasets, translating financial results into actionable business insights, and presenting findings to senior leadership.


The successful candidate will play a key role in consolidating capital financial information, supporting quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and providing financial analysis to stakeholders across Finance, Asset Management, and Business Operations.


Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications


  • University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), financial reporting, business performance analytics, or related finance roles.

  • Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis experience.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement and operational efficiencies.

  • Strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced preferred).


Preferred Qualifications


  • 3+ years of public accounting experience.

  • Experience within utilities, regulated industries, or energy sectors strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, or related financial systems.

  • Understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and financial governance frameworks.

  • Experience supporting SOX controls and audit processes.


The ideal candidate will:


  • Have strong FP&A experience with a focus on budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Be comfortable consolidating financial information from multiple sources and transforming it into leadership‑ready reporting packages and slide decks.

  • Possess solid Excel skills; however, advanced technical modeling is not required.

  • Be able to analyze financial data, develop insights, and effectively communicate results through presentations.

  • Thrive in a collaborative environment and support ongoing process alignment and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Have experience in a utility or regulated industry environment, which is highly preferred over general oil & gas experience.

  • Be capable of becoming productive quickly, with limited transition support after initial onboarding.
