BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. in Peterborough, Ontario is seeking a Finance Manager - Fuel to lead full-cycle accounting for the Fuel division onsite. You will oversee revenue recognition, cost variances and cash flow, and drive analytics to support strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve Price Approval Requests (PARs) for Fuel division proposals.
• Review and understand customer agreements and contractual requirements.
• Review and approve Project Bookings for Revenue recognition and forecasting.
• Coordinate accounting activities for quarterly Fuel reviews (profit statements, forecast, billing).
• Review journal entries for project accruals, reclassifications, reconciliations.
• Manage foreign exchange forward purchases to mitigate currency risk.
• Lead financial reviews and provide insights for Fuel decision-making.
• Support ACEs (capital expenditures) analysis (NPV/IRR).
• Monitor monthly Fuel financial performance and advise on revenue optimization.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and SOX/COSO controls.

Position Overview

The Finance Fuel Manager focuses on full cycle account for the Fuel division. The Finance Fuel Manager will be required to measure and monitor the Fuel divisions accounting performance including revenue recognition, cost center variances and cash flow position.

Location:

This position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.

Y our Day to Day:

Fuel Accounting and Business Analytics:

• Review and approve all Price Approval Requests (PAR's) for various customer proposalsfor the Fuel division


• Review and understand customer agreements and contractual requirements


• Review and approve Project Bookings for accuracy as well as the correct Revenue


• Recognition method


• Co-ordinate accounting activities related to quarterly reviews for Fuel, which includecontract profit statements, forecast and billing information


• Review and approve journal entries for project accruals, account reclassifications, otherproject requirements as well as account reconciliations


• Review, approve and request the purchase of foreign exchange forwards by the BWXT Treasurer, to reduce foreign currency risk


• Lead financial reviews and provide insights to enhance decision-making and strategicplanning for Fuel.


• Assist operations with ACEs (Authorization for Capital Expenses)... analyze NPV and IRR


• Review and approve all capital expenditures (ACEs) related to the Fuel division


• Provide support and guidance to operations and other finance team members on financialprotocols and ensure accounting transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP.


• Monitor and report on monthly financial performance for Fuel.


• Work with Business Unit Leaders to optimize revenue and operating income in theirsegments to meet/exceed forecasted Operating Income


• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures, along with corporategovernance requirements.


• Implement standardized reporting tools and processes for financial performance across Fuel accounting, enabling real-time visibility into budget adherence and variances.


• Facilitate the resolution of any financial discrepancies identified in Fuel accountinensuring timely corrective actions are taken.


• Identify risk factors in financial operations and recommend solutions to mitigate potential impacts on company performance.

Forecasting:

• Oversee forecast for backlog & new business projects, including bookings, Revenue,


• COGS, GP, and cash flow (actual cost, billings and receipts) for Fuel.


• Assist operations personnel with cost center budgeting and reporting


• Meet with Director of Fuel to review the P&L forecast and complete a Risk and Opportunity report as well as various variance reporting comparing Year over Yearforecast and actuals for review by CO President and Group Controller


• Prepare other documents/variance reports that are reviewed with CO Group Controllerand CO President as well as other Managers


• Provide support and work with Sales and the Director of Fuel to complete NPG Strategic plan

Additional Activities/Special Requests:

• Provide information to internal and external auditors.


• Accountable to maintain an adequate system of internal control in areas of responsibility,


• Ensure SOX and COSO requirements are being followed.

Required Qualifications:

• College or University Education majoring in business or accounting


• Accounting designation CPA (CA, CMA or CGA) or equivalent experience


• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing/construction environment


• Proven problem solving and decision making abilities


• Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectivelywith others with a commitment to supporting a team


• Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial


• In depth knowledge of Microsoft, mainly Excel and knowledge in SAP/BPC would be an asset


• Hands on, detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $92,000.00 and $142,000.00 per year. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
