Job summary

Mountain View Seniors’ Housing is seeking a part-time finance professional to supervise the Accounts Payable Administrator and Accounting Coordinator. You will oversee daily accounting operations, month-end/year-end close, and assist with budgets and forecasts to support leadership decisions.

The role requires CPA designation (preferred) or active CPA pursuit, strong GAAP knowledge, and excellent analytical skills. Some travel to other organizational locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred; candidates actively working toward CPA will be considered.
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Progressive accounting experience including financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end processes.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with GST reporting, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Clear and current criminal record check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, working papers, and audit preparation.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses for leadership to support decision-making.
  • Complete GST filings and government reporting requirements while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain internal controls, financial policies, and accounting procedures.
  • Support asset management, contract administration, and records management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and support technology and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to provide financial guidance.

Role Description

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred; candidates actively working toward CPA certification will also be considered.
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end/year-end processes.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with GST reporting, audit preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and other business applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Must have a clear and current criminal record check.
Schedule:
  • Part-time, permanent position - 2 to 3 days per week.
  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to other organizational locations as required.
  • Some flexibility may be required during month-end, year-end, audit periods, and other peak operational times.
