Qualifications

Our main North American office, located in beautiful Vancouver, BC is seeking a Finance Director to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is passionate about the details, and has interest in growing with a global company as it relates to consolidations and IFRS conversion. The Finance Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing all financial operations across our Canadian and U.S. subsidiaries. This leadership role will partner closely with the CFO, executive leadership, and local management teams to provide strategic financial direction, ensure compliance with regional regulations, and deliver accurate and timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in multinational finance management, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to balance strategic vision with operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy & Leadership: Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to shape long-term financial planning and investment decisions; provide financial insights to client, project, and account teams to support profitability and efficiencies.
  • Operational Finance Management: Oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for Canadian and U.S. subsidiaries; manage revenue recognition and accruals with auditable working papers; ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes across both jurisdictions; oversee vendor onboarding, review contract terms, and manage payment cycles; drive cash flow management, working capital optimization, and treasury operations; generate and review resource contracts, and oversee payroll and benefits.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance with tax, legal, and regulatory requirements in Canada and the U.S.; ensure all statutory financial requirements are met including payroll taxes, GST, VAT, EHT, Worksafe; coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal teams across jurisdictions; collaborate with global finance teams and external auditors on IFRS conversion and reporting; implement and maintain internal controls, policies, and financial governance best practices.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow regional finance teams across Canada and the U.S.; foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with Akcelo’s values; build scalable processes and systems to support future growth; collaborate with operations and commercial leads to align financial management with business objectives; support new business development with pricing, contract review, and financial modeling.
Qualifications
  • Designation or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with a creative agency in a senior accounting role
  • Experience managing full cycle accounting, month end, and audit preparatory documents
  • Experience with Canadian and US payroll processing and knowledge of employment standards legislation
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero), MS Office Suite, and Google Workspace
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets knowledge (VLOOKUPs, modeling, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience mentoring direct reports with a professional growth approach
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, innovative solutions mindset
