Finance Assistant Part‑Time (Federal Government – Central Ontario Region)
Temporary position, initial term ASAP to September 30 2026, with possible extension.
Compensation: $23 per hour.
Regular work hours: 7.5 hours per day (excluding a 1‑hour unpaid lunch). Work 2–3 days per week between Monday and Friday, 7 am–5 pm EST; hybrid model with a minimum of 2 onsite days (Tuesday and Wednesday) at the client’s downtown Toronto office.
Responsibilities Summary
- Provide financial and data administration support services to the Operations and Finance Team, including data gathering, mining, reformatting, and analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights, with extensive use of MS Excel Pivot tables.
- Collect, clean, organize and analyze department data to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
- Create databases and develop custom reports on existing corporate databases.
- Provide back‑up administrative coordination and support services to the Finance Team, including making travel reservations, developing itineraries and preparing travel expense claims as required.
- Coordinate various project and day‑to‑day activities among internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Perform additional administrative and office support tasks as required.
Qualifications
Education: Second‑year university level in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent discipline.
Preferred Work Experience: At least three (3) months of experience using SAP, SONAR, and SONAR 360 systems, and demonstrated strong proficiency in managing data from multiple sources and formats.
Preferred Sector Experience: Federal government sector experience preferred; finance or research sector experience an asset.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements
- Proficiency with SAP, SONAR, and SONAR 360 to mine, filter, format data, and create reports.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, including Pivot Tables (will be tested).
- Strong data entry skills and attention to detail (will be tested).
- Strong English communication skills, including business writing, reading comprehension, proofreading, and verbal presentation suitable for diverse audiences, and professional telephone manners.

Additional Requirements
- Must have Government of Canada Reliability Status Security Clearance certification, including fingerprint check, prior to assignment start. Marberg will reimburse security clearance fees upon satisfactory completion and receipt submission.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by health, safety and information security policies.
- Ability to declare personal Non‑Conflict of Interest in the execution of assignment responsibilities.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
- Additional satisfactory background checks, technical skills evaluations, and employment references as required.
