Are you a high-potential post-secondary student looking for more than a desk-based summer job?

Kawartha Dairy’s Student Development Program is a paid, highly selective opportunity designed for students who want hands‑on experience, real responsibility, and exposure to how a Canadian manufacturing and retail business operates.

This Field Territory Sales role is ideal for students who enjoy being on the move, building relationships, and taking ownership of a defined territory.

And yes — free ice cream is included!

About the Role

As a Field Territory Sales Summer Student, you’ll work closely with Kawartha Dairy’s Sales team to support retail partners across your assigned territory. This is a customer‑facing, field‑based role — you won’t be behind a desk.

You’ll help ensure Kawartha Dairy products are well‑represented, available, and supported in partner locations, while gaining real‑world sales experience in the grocery and food service space.

While the role is field‑based, you’ll also be part of our broader Student Development Program, including in‑person learning, connection, and mentorship opportunities in Bobcaygeon.

What You’ll Do
  • Partner with local Territory Managers during the summer sales call cycle
  • Visit retail and scoop shop partners to support product availability, displays, and merchandising
  • Support new business development through prospecting and outreach to potential partners
  • Analyze competitive activity, pricing, and in‑store execution
  • Maximize product presence within existing customer accounts
  • Support point‑of‑sale material placement and maintenance
  • Lead and support in‑store and partner sampling events
  • Represent Kawartha Dairy professionally and positively in the field
What You’ll Gain

By the end of the program, you will have:

  • Hands‑on field sales experience with a respected Canadian brand
  • Experience managing a defined sales territory
  • Exposure to retail, customer management, and sales strategy
  • Practical communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills
  • Mentorship and networking with Kawartha Dairy leaders and fellow students
  • Insight into how sales connects to manufacturing, supply chain, and marketing
Location & Travel Expectations (Important)

This is a field‑based role supporting customers across Kawartha Lakes and surrounding areas.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have reliable access to your own vehicle for daily travel
  • Hold a valid G driver’s licence with a clean driving record
  • Be comfortable driving regularly within your assigned territory
  • Be able to travel to Bobcaygeon, Ontario:
    • For program orientation
    • Once per month for in‑person student development days, learning sessions, and team connection
  • Mileage is reimbursed at $0.55/km, and overnight stays and travel expenses are covered when required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Students enrolled in (or entering) 3rd–4th year post‑secondary or a post‑graduate program
  • Academic background or interest in Business, Marketing, Field Sales, Psychology, or Customer Management
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Available to start May 4, 2025
  • Comfortable working flexible hours when required (including occasional weekends or holidays)
  • Independent, organized, and confident working in a field‑based role
What Will Make You a Great Fit
  • You enjoy meeting new people and building relationships
  • You’re comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your work
  • You’re organized, reliable, and follow through
  • You’re curious, motivated, and eager to learn
