Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited is seeking a Field Lead Operator to join our Grande Prairie area team. Reporting to the Production Foreman, this role focuses on front line leadership to safely execute production opportunities while maintaining project readiness and strong cross-functional collaboration with Safety, Integrity, Environmental and Engineering.

The position requires 80% on site with 20% in the office, a track record of operating in oil and gas, and the ability to mentor teams,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of oil & gas industry experience.
• GPO (Gas Plant Operator A-D) and/or PFO (Production Field Operations A-D) certification or Journeyperson/Technology diploma.
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification is an asset.
• Demonstrated leadership with a proven safety track record.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and training best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily mentorship with clear emphasis on operational, technical, financial and safety excellence.
• Provide hands-on competency SOCT training to team members.
• Monitor production volumes with a cross-functional team to maintain runtime performance >97%.
• Utilize continuous improvement techniques to support safety, production, financial and environmental targets.
• Schedule and supervise projects locally as directed by the Production Foreman/ Maintenance Foreman.

Reporting to the Production Foreman, the Field Lead Operator is primarily responsible for front line leadership focusing on safely executing production opportunities, while ensuring a high level of project readiness.

Managing day-to-day operations while interfacing with Safety, Integrity, Environmental and various Engineering disciplines is both rewarding and challenging. Looking for your direction to actively promote a facts and data decision-making culture.

This role requires minimum 80% of the time to be on site with the balance of time in the office.

• Job location: Progress Gas Plant, Ksituan and Spring Lake fields
  • The successful applicant will be expected to live in the Grande Prairie, Spirit River or Dawson Creek area
• Shift schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off - 10 hours per shift

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide daily mentorship to team members with a clear display towards operational, technical, financial and safety excellence, as well as environmental responsibility
• Provide hands-on competency SOCT training to team members
• Assist with monitoring production volumes, working closely with a cross-functional team to maintain runtime performance > 97%
• Utilize Continuous Improvement techniques and processes to support the areas’ safety, production, financial and environmental targets
• Assist with monitoring compressor, facility, battery, and plant throughput relative to capability and initiate actions to optimize, correct deficiencies, and resolve operational problems
• Provide local scheduling and supervision of projects as directed by the Production Foreman, Maintenance Foreman, or Assistant Foreman

What You Bring to the Role:

• High school diploma/GED required
• 10+ years of oil & gas industry experience
• GPO (Gas Plant Operator A-D) and/or PFO (Production Field Operations A-D) or a Journeyperson certificate or a Technology diploma
• Power Engineering and Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification will be considered an asset
• Demonstrated leadership skills and a proven safety track record with consecutive years of strong performance
• Familiarity with and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and training & teaching best practices
