Job summary

The University of British Columbia is seeking a Research Assistant / Technician 2 to support meromixis, circulation, and mixing studies in water-filled mine pits. The role involves field research, laboratory experiments, numerical modelling, data processing, and drafting reports for journal publication.

This position reports to the Professor and Research Associate and collaborates with graduate students and team members.

Qualifications

• High school graduation with related training and a minimum two years of related experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Responsibilities

• Assist in field experiments following established procedures.
• Prepare field safety plans in accordance with project procedures.
• Install, service and download data from instrumentation at field sites.
• Set up and deploy self-recording instruments and ensure proper operation.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot lab and field equipment.
• Process, analyze, and summarize research data.
• Prepare data summaries and figures for reports and journals.
