Job summary

Stantec in Canada, BC Burnaby and Kamloops, is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist or EIT to join the Site Investigation, Remediation & Response team. You’ll gain hands-on field experience on contaminated sites projects, working with senior staff in field and office settings.

You’ll contribute to Phase I–III ESAs, PSI/DSI stages, and remediation programs while developing technical depth and professional growth in a respected environmental consulting environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Engineering.
• Previous contaminated sites investigation experience is a strong asset.
• Possession of, or eligibility for, a professional designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support and implement Phase I, II, III ESAs, Stage 1 PSI, Stage 2 PSI/DSI, and remediation programs.
• Conduct soil, soil vapour, sediment, groundwater, and surface water sampling.
• Develop site-specific health and safety plans and help lead field programs with safety as top priority.
• Produce clear, accurate field notes and documentation meeting data quality objectives.
• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors (drillers, hydrovac operators, locators, etc.).
• Assist with BC Contaminated Sites Regulation applications and Certificates of Compliance.
• Manage and organize field data using specialized equipment and software.
• Support project managers with scopes, budgets, schedules, and field logistics.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Stantec Canada (geotech, water, atmosphere, indoor env.).
• Actively contribute to and strengthen a strong health and safety culture.
