Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist based in Ontario (Kitchener, Markham, Mississauga or Hamilton). The role begins in January or May 2027 and includes extensive fieldwork to support engineers and scientists on environmental site assessments across multiple project sites.

Responsibilities include groundwater monitoring and sampling, data collection, subcontractor coordination, and report preparation. Travel to sites is required; relocation and sponsorship are not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
• Willingness and ability to perform extensive fieldwork and travel to project sites within Ontario.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate field documentation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid and unrestricted Driver’s License to visit project sites and offices.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental site assessments and monitoring programs using established procedures.
• Conduct groundwater monitoring and sampling, including purging and collecting samples.
• Record field data and observations in accordance with project requirements.
• Assist with drilling oversight, subcontractor coordination, soil logging, and well installation.
• Prepare organized field notes, daily reports, and data summaries.
• Contribute to health and safety planning and field safety meetings.
• Draft technical deliverables (tables, figures, sections of reports).
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and escalate issues when needed.
