Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a site-based Field Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation. This role involves technical support for construction and commissioning activities on a 15 days on / 6 days off rotation. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, have a minimum of 2 years' field experience, and possess strong interpersonal skills. A proactive attitude and adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial and/or oil & gas projects.
  • Field-based experience is required.
  • Background in electrical and instrumentation; automation experience is considered an asset.

Field Engineer – Electrical & Instrumentation

We are seeking a site-based Field Engineer to support construction and commissioning activities on a rotational basis (15 days on / 6 days off). This role involves working closely with the field and home office, including the construction manager, project managers, engineers, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues, support documentation and turnover processes, and ensure quality and compliance in field execution.

Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
  • Act as the liaison between project teams, contractors, and vendors to resolve field-level technical issues.
  • Gatekeep and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) and ensure timely processing.
  • Support construction turnover, redline updates, and preservation programs.
  • Conduct technical follow-ups on site, including P&ID walkdowns, vendor equipment checks, and system walkdowns with contractors and commissioning teams.
  • Provide technical input for Smart Completions, deficiency tracking, and scope transfers.
  • Assist with QA reviews, NCR dispositions, and technical input to Construction Work Packages.
  • Comfortable walking down skids/modules for E&I scope.
Your strengths include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • EIT or P.eng required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial and/or oil & gas projects.
  • Field-based experience is required.
  • Background in electrical and instrumentation; automation experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Rotation Schedule
  • 15 days on / 6 days off.
