Job summary

JDS Energy & Mining seeks an Electrical Engineer to join our team on a FIFO rotation supporting a major mining project from construction through commissioning. You will provide field electrical support, review drawings, and help resolve issues to meet design intent and safety standards.

Based in Wells, BC, you’ll work with site teams, vendors, and contractors to install and test substations, switchgear, transformers, and MCCs, while promoting high quality and continuous improvement on a complex

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support to site construction and project teams.
• Review electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to support field execution.
• Monitor electrical installation activities to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, applicable standards, and project quality expectations.
• Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment including substations, switchgear, transformers, motors, MCCs, cable systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to resolve technical queries and support efficient project delivery.
• Conduct site inspections to verify completed work and identify deficiencies requiring corrective action.
• Assist with field design changes, redline markups, and preparation of as-built documentation.
• Participate in commissioning activities, equipment inspections, functional testing, and system handovers.
• Investigate electrical issues encountered during construction and commissioning and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Contribute to work planning, construction sequencing, and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
• Maintain accurate engineering records, inspection reports, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, constructability, and project performance.
