What will you be doing!

  • Planning, organizing, and controlling the integration of work areas and disciplines within projects, including assessing scope, determining material requirements, purchasing materials and equipment, and executing carpentry work.
  • Applying trade knowledge, methods, and best practices to complete hands-on remediation and restoration work.
  • Planning and managing projects to align with stakeholder expectations and meet business needs.
  • Ensuring all designs and work plans incorporate safety, quality, health, and environmental requirements.
  • Managing changes in project scope and schedule.
  • Identifying project risks and barriers and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Reporting and interfacing regularly with Leads and Property Owners regarding project status, updates, and expectations.
  • Balancing and determining project priorities and responsibilities.
  • Executing contract and procurement strategies.
  • Managing multiple work packages and resources simultaneously.
  • Coordinating with CNL staff, consultants, and contractors to support remediation of low-level radioactive waste at assigned sites.
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Delivering quality results on time and within budget.
  • Ensuring all team members use appropriate safety equipment and adhere to safe work practices, radiation protection requirements, and all applicable CNL safety policies.
  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills in client- and stakeholder-facing interactions, maintaining professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
  • Collaborating with the Communications & Stakeholder Relations team, providing and receiving input and participating in public relations events as required.
  • Applying functional knowledge of provincial regulatory requirements related to building codes.
  • Applying functional knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Applying functional knowledge of radioactive and/or environmental remediation and restoration regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for
  • Education
    • Completion of Secondary Education is a must; however, a degree or diploma from a college/university relevant to skilled trades would be an asset
  • Experience
    • College diploma with 2+ years of progressive project experience related to construction and/or remediation projects; or
    • 3+ years’ experience with no formal post-secondary education, progressive, responsible project experience related to construction and/or remediation projects.
    • Experience supervising the work of contractors, consultant engineers, and vendors in field work and construction oversight.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Skills across construction and restoration activities, such as general framing, finish carpentry (trim, casing, baseboard, cabinetry), stair construction, flooring installation (tile, laminate, hardwood, vinyl), insulation and vapor barrier installation, drywall installation and repair, painting, window and door installation, masonry repair, concrete placement and finishing, exterior siding installation, and earthworks such as grading, compaction, and plantings.
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills while client- and stakeholder-facing, with direct communication, ethics, and integrity.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in mathematics, science, and communications related to carpentry, including safe use of hand and power tools.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in estimating, blueprint reading, and drafting.
    • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment to organize work, maintain workflow, and ensure accuracy of records.
    • Punctual, dependable, safety-minded, and detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Possessed strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
    • Demonstrated the ability to understand detailed information and accurately handle work-related documentation.
    • Demonstrated adaptability to a changing work environment.
    • Maintained excellent interpersonal communication skills and successful working relationships at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
    • Be highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions
  • Office environment, depending on the project stage, requiring regular concentration at a computer screen (approximately 15%).
  • Perform site work at each project stage, using tools and applicable safety equipment, and strictly adhering to safe work and radiation protection policies and practices (approximately 85%).
  • Travel as required.
