Overview

POSITION TYPE TERM (Oct 2025 – Mar 2026), PART-TIME

Schedule: Practice 1 evening a week (2 hours) and games on either Saturdays or Sundays (3 hours)

Practice Location: Victor Mager BGC Club (81 Beliveau Rd)

Team Age Group: 11-14 year old female

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Female Youth Basketball Coach that will be responsible for organizing and leading practices, coaching team during games, help the young athletes develop fundamental basketball skills and game knowledge.

League/Team

The team will be playing in the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) community club or jr.nba league. Team is made up of first- or second-year players that are just learning the game and developing their skills.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead practices, including warm-ups, drills, and scrimmages
  • Coach team during games
  • Motivate and inspire young athletes while creating an emotionally and physically safe sport environment
  • Mentor and motivate young athletes to achieve their full potential
  • Provide feedback and guidance to athletes on their performance
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure a positive and supportive team environment
  • Maintain sports equipment and ensure the facility is safe and clean
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Previous coaching experience in youth sports
  • Strong knowledge of basketball rules and regulations (familiar with WMBA rules and modifications)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Provide clear police record check with vulnerable sector search (PVSC) and child abuse registry checks obtained within the past 6 months
  • Respect in Sport Certification or willing to obtain
