Job summary

United Farmers of Alberta Cooperative is seeking a Feedlot Technician to service, maintain, program, and provide emergency on-call repairs for Micro Weigh Systems at customer sites. The role includes installation and commissioning of new systems and training for new customers.

Reporting to the Manager, Feedlot Solutions, the successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, support delivery equipment, and participate in weekend on-call shifts.

Qualifications

  • University degree/diploma in Agriculture or relevant field experience.
  • 2+ years of feedlot cattle experience.
  • Journeyman or livestock management experience is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 license; travel may be required for sales/service calls.
  • Demonstrated computer and communication skills.
  • Moderate understanding of the agriculture market and business.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and logical reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule with overnight travel as needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Feedlot Solutions, the Feedlot Technician is responsible for the service and maintenance, programming, emergency response on call repairs and the required product delivery for the Micro Weigh Systems installed at the sites of all Feedlot Technologies customers. The purpose of this position also includes the installation and commissioning of new systems and the training to support these new customers.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain equipment according to a planned preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Conduct ad hoc and emergency maintenance as required.
  • Operate and maintain the delivery equipment in accordance with UFA Standards.
  • Install, support, and provide service of new systems.

Qualifications:

  • Agricultural background with minimum of 2 years of feedlot cattle experience.

This is a safety sensitive position as it will be on site at UFA facilities and will be using UFA material handling equipment. The successful applicant will be required to pass (negative result) a drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment.
