A regional First Nation organization in Winnipeg is seeking a Family Violence Prevention Project Coordinator to lead a workshop series aimed at understanding healthy manhood. The ideal candidate will possess strong facilitation skills and experience in gender-based violence prevention. Responsibilities include collaborating with community leaders and conducting outreach to promote the program. Salary is $75,000 – $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
SCO is a growing and dynamic regional First Nation organization that represents 32 Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations and more than 87,000 citizens in what is now southern Manitoba. Established in 1999 by the Chiefs, SCO is mandated as an independent organization to protect, preserve, promote, and enhance First Nation peoples’ inherent rights, languages, customs, and traditions through the application and implementation of the spirit and intent of the Treaty-making process.
OVERVIEW:
The Family Violence Prevention Project (FVPP) is a new initiative designed to address gender-based violence by engaging young men in First Nation communities to understand the difference between healthy manhood and toxic masculinity, and how each impacts individuals, families, and communities.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the FVPP Coordinator will lead the development and delivery of a five-week Healthy Manhood Workshop Series in SCO First Nation schools. The FVPP Coordinator will work closely with First Nation Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community leaders to ensure the curriculum is culturally grounded and relevant. This position will require strong facilitation skills, the ability to connect with youth, and experience in addressing gender-based violence.
