A local educational institution in Brooks, Alberta seeks a Family School Liaison Worker to support K-4 students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The successful candidate will provide individual counselling, facilitate support groups, and collaborate with families and community services. This temporary, full-time position offers 35 hours per week with the possibility of an extension. A Bachelor of Social Work Degree is required.
We are now accepting applications for a Family School Liaison Worker to work as part of a team providing service to students at Holy Family Academy, a grades K-4 school located in Brooks, Alberta.
The primary role of the Family School Liaison Worker is to provide connection and supports to students who are struggling with social, emotional and/or behavioral issues with the focus of enhancing success at school. Student coping strategies are enhanced through the provision of individual supportive counselling, targeted skills groups, classroom presentations, universal prevention programs, community referrals and community collaboration. The Family School Liaison Worker also acts as a liaison between home, school and community to promote the coordination and collaboration of services. As part of the Family School Liaison program team, the incumbent will be responsible for providing individual support for students and developing and facilitating groups. Additionally, the candidate will assist in leading lunchtime group activities to further support student well‑being.
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Social Work Degree or relevant training and experience in counseling children and families. The candidate must be registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
This position runs concurrent with the school calendar. This is a Temporary, Full‑Time position, 35 hours per week on average. The assignment is set to conclude one year from the start date, with the possibility of an extension to be reviewed closer to the end date.
