Job summary

Namgis First Nation in Alert Bay on Cormorant Island seeks a physician to join its health team. The clinic and hospital on the reserve will benefit from your ER coverage, inpatient care and long-term patient services, alongside two other physicians and a diverse health team.

The position is salaried with housing available. RSA benefits include recruitment incentives, relocation support, CME opportunities, and additional rural locum payments to support a robust, community-focused health program.

Job description

Role and Facility Information

The Namgis First Nation is looking for a physician to join the health team. The physician will work in clinic with 2 physicians and other health team members: including 2 community care nurses, 2 mental health workers, addictions counselors and a social worker. There are also visiting occupational therapists, social work, mental health, intensive case managers and a midwife. Additionally, visiting specialists include Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry. The position requires ER coverage, inpatient hospital care and long-term patient care. Both the clinic and hospital are located on the Namgis First Nations reserve. The position is salaried, and housing can be provided.

Benefits

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Recruitment Incentive: $20,000
• Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to a maximum of $15,000
• Fee Premium: 23.94%
• Annual Flat Fee: $27,558.36
• Rural CME: starting at $1,320/annum for 2 years or less in community, increasing to a maximum of $5,720 after 4 years.
• Rural GP Locum Program provides $900/day to locum physician with 43 days/annum locum coverage to resident physician.
