Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Williams Lake is seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to join a 24/7 ED roster that handles about 22,000 visits annually. You will collaborate with specialists across internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics and psychiatry, and participate in teaching medical students and residents within the UBC rural teaching program.

We offer mentorship opportunities, including NAVIG8 Leadership Development, with a path to expand scope of practice

Qualifications

• Certification in Emergency Medicine (CCFP, CCFP (EM), or FRCPC) is required or strongly encouraged.
• Experience in a high-volume ED is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor learners.

Position Summary

Join our collegial emergency medicine team in Williams Lake! In our 24/7 ED, you’ll help manage approximately 22,000 visits per year. With a diverse range of cases and numerous procedural opportunities, you’ll also collaborate with specialists in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, pediatrics, and psychiatry. In our ED, you’ll have the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and residents as part of the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s rural teaching program. The medical community offers numerous opportunities to expand your scope of practice based on your interests. For those interested, Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. The CMH redevelopment project is well underway. By the end of 2026, we'll have an expanded emergency department with 23 treatment spaces, a medical-surgical inpatient unit with 36 beds, and a mental health unit featuring 8 single-occupancy rooms. As the project moves toward completion in 2029, enhancements across the hospital will include an upgraded maternity and women's health unit, expanded oncology and ambulatory care services, and a new academic space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
