About us

FUJIAN EVANGELICAL CHURCH (FEC) is a Reformation Canada Network (RCN) Congregation. FEC started in January 1985 with five families to form a unique ministry among the Minnan‑speaking people in the Greater Vancouver area. Today, aside from a Minnanese service, FEC have expanded to include Mandarin and English services. We are a diverse community of believers from various nations, backgrounds, and walks of life, united by our faith in Jesus Christ.

Position Overview

The Fujian Evangelical Church (FEC) Family Life Pastor (FLP) is responsible for overseeing ministry to children, youth and young adults and to equip parents to lead their children spiritually. This role involves providing guidance and support and addressing various aspects of family life through teaching, counselling, and event coordination. The aim is to strengthen family relationships and foster spiritual growth within the context of Christian values. Under the guidance of the Senior Pastor or Church Council, FLP will ensure that all programs, volunteer development, and administrative processes are conducted at the highest level to glorify God.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English (Spoken Mandarin is an asset but not required)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Marriage and Relationship Support:
    1. Offer pre‑marital counselling, marriage enrichment programs, and guidance for couples facing challenges, drawing from biblical principles.
  • Parenting Support:
    1. Provide resources, workshops, and counselling to help parents raise their children with Christian values and navigate the challenges of parenting.
  • Youth and Children/Young Adults Ministry:
    1. Collaborate with other leaders to develop and implement programs that nurture the spiritual development of young people.
    2. Administer and organize weekly Sunday School programs and weekly Youth Group fellowship
    3. Provide age‑appropriate resources and Christ‑centered curriculum and/or events to encourage spiritual, emotional and relational growth, and ignite a genuine desire for a relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Community Building:
    1. Organize events and activities that foster connections and support among families within the church community (VBS/Hallelujah Night/Summer Camps)
    2. Be a good steward of the church’s resources: volunteers, time, materials, etc
  • Spiritual Development:
    1. Encourage families to grow in their faith and relationship with God through teaching, discipleship, and outreach.
    2. Recruit, equip, train, and care for the volunteers involved in the ministry and foster team spirit among them
  • Carry out such tasks and responsibilities as may be determined by the supervisor/council from time to time
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
  • Seminary degree with a concentration in Family and Children Ministry or currently working towards an educational background in Children & Family Ministry, Biblical studies, or related field preferred
  • 3 or more years previous experience working with families/children/teens/youth and young adults
  • Previous program coordinator experience, or similar a plus
  • Strong Biblical Knowledge and committed Christian and able to communicate it to all ages
  • Proven experience in providing and managing creative and engaging ministry programs for children, youth and young adults.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and gifted in building and fostering relationship with others
  • Willingness to participate in hands‑on/physically demanding activities
  • Comfortable with use of social media, texting, and apps to communicate and connect with young adults and families with children/youth
  • Skilled in the use of computer office software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva (a plus).
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary: $50K to $60K per year

  • This is a full‑time position, where the candidate is required to be present and available on Sundays (during Sunday School), weekdays when there are ongoing meetings/events/programs relating or relevant to Family, Children & Youth, and Young Adults.
