Family Law Lawyer (2–5 Years Experience)

Location: Downtown Ottawa
Compensation: $90,000–$115,000 (based on experience)

Our client, a well-established law firm in downtown Ottawa, is seeking a Family Law Lawyer with 2–5 years of experience to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated lawyer who is looking to build their practice in a supportive, client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent clients in family law matters before the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice

  • Manage a steady caseload, including hearings, conferences, motions, and trials

  • Attend court proceedings and advocate effectively on behalf of clients

  • Oversee and manage legal issues arising between family members, including separation, divorce, parenting, and support matters

  • Supervise and participate in mediation and settlement discussions

  • Provide clear, practical legal advice to clients and internal staff

  • Maintain organized and accurate case files, including drafting and filing court documents

  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and manage expectations

  • Collaborate with caseworkers, supervisors, and administrative staff as required

Qualifications
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario

  • 2–5 years of experience practicing family law

  • Courtroom experience and confidence managing files independently

  • An existing book of business is an asset but not required

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not required

  • Strong time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
