Your role

We are seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and detail-oriented to join our team. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that every child and youth in out of home care or at risk of entering care has the opportunity to build and sustain meaningful, lifelong connections with family and supportive adults.

As a Family Finder, you will take a proactive approach to locating, engaging, and involving extended family members and other key individuals who can contribute to a child’s sense of belonging, safety, and stability. You will use both traditional and innovative search strategies to identify and reach out to relatives, community members, and other caring adults who may serve as potential caregivers or support persons.

This role goes beyond finding placements, it’s about building relationships and restoring family and cultural connections that may have been lost. You will spend your time reviewing case histories, interviewing families, and collaborating closely with social workers, caregivers, and community partners to ensure that each child’s natural network is explored and strengthened.

Essential qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or Diploma/certificate in post-secondary human services program or relevant course work in a related field such as Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education.
  • Experience working with community care givers and children in a child welfare setting
  • Experience conducting assessments of care givers and children
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Experience working with Yukon First Nations, and knowledge of socio-historical events relevant to Indigenous cultures” will be an asset.
