Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Environmental Systems Manager

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, 1 Old Lodge Rd, Jasper, AB T0E 1E0 — full-time position with a salary range of $60,000–$70,000 per year. Salary is competitive and based on experience and education.

Located in Jasper National Park within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the lodge emphasizes sustainability and responsible hospitality. As the Environmental Systems Manager, you will lead the environmental vision, guide sustainable practices, and champion meaningful change across the property. Responsibilities
  • Design and execute a dynamic sustainability strategy aligned with Accor’s Planet 21 goals and Fairmont’s environmental commitments.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within hotel operations to improve energy efficiency, waste reduction, and overall environmental performance.
  • Spearhead initiatives that position Jasper Park Lodge as a leader in responsible tourism.
  • Manage and drive progress on sustainability projects such as:
    • Carbon and energy reduction
    • Water conservation
    • Food waste minimization
    • Single-use plastic elimination
    • Third-party environmental certifications
  • Collaborate across departments to embed sustainable practices in daily operations.
  • Review current policies and practices, recommending improvements to enhance sustainability performance.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the property and Accor’s corporate sustainability team.
  • Lead the lodge’s Sustainability Committee, engaging team members and leadership to build a culture rooted in environmental care.
  • Train and educate staff through onboarding and continuous learning opportunities, empowering everyone to contribute to green goals.
  • Support Sales and Talent teams with sustainability collateral and messaging to appeal to eco-conscious guests and prospective employees.
  • Build strong relationships with local partners, organizations, and community stakeholders to drive regional environmental efforts.
  • Track, analyze, and report key sustainability metrics such as energy and water use, waste diversion, and food waste.
  • Conduct regular property audits and provide actionable feedback to department heads and the Executive Team.
  • Represent the lodge in sustainability-related events, presentations, and guest-facing engagements.
  • Organize campaigns and events that raise awareness and inspire action within guest and colleague communities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of management experience, preferably in hotel operations or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Sustainability, Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills to engage employees, guests, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Proven ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams toward achieving sustainability goals.
  • Passion for sustainability and a deep understanding of environmental best practices within the hospitality industry.
  • Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
