Job summary

A premier resort in Canada is seeking an Assistant Recreation Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of recreation facilities including the pool and fitness area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high guest service levels, maintaining health and safety regulations, and developing engaging programs for guests of all ages. Applicants should have experience working with children and be certified in First Aid and CPR. This role offers opportunities for growth within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required.
  • Proven record in program design and/or program facilitation.
  • Computer literacy with MS Word and Excel.
  • Degree in recreation or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemicals/pool operations is an asset.
  • Previous experience with a POS system is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong interest in health, well-being and physical activity.
  • Committed to ongoing development and training of all colleagues.
  • Proven ability to motivate and build strong teams.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.
  • Direct and lead day-to-day Recreation operations.
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Maintain and clean facilities through daily inspections.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance revenue.
  • Design entertainment programs for children and adults.
  • Maintain high guest service levels through follow-up on feedback.
  • Monitor and control departmental payroll and expenses.
  • Schedule all Recreation staff.
  • Administer staff training across the operation.
  • Responsible for spa purchasing and inventories.
  • Ensure equipment inventory is well maintained.
  • Manage cash float and point-of-sale system.
  • Attend scheduled hotel meetings.
  • Recruit for the department and complete performance management.
  • Design and implement controls for rentals and programs.
  • Develop and execute yearly marketing plans.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge — Assistant Recreation Manager

ACCOR Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Jasper, AB. Permanent, Full-time position. This role oversees the Pool, Fitness Area, Boathouse, Kids Camp, and the resort’s activities and recreation programs. You will be an ambassador for the exceptional service and recreation experiences that define the Jasper Park Lodge, promoting and facilitating activities that enhance guests’ overall experience.

Responsibilities
  • Report to the Director, Wellbeing.
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.
  • Direct and lead day-to-day Recreation operations, ensuring standards are followed.
  • Ensure Health & Safety regulations are adhered to in all Recreation areas.
  • Maintain and clean facilities (Pool, Boathouse, health club thermal area) through daily inspections.
  • Develop and implement programs to enhance departmental revenue.
  • Design entertainment programs and activities for children and adults during official holidays.
  • Maintain high guest service levels through follow-up on guest issues and feedback.
  • Monitor and control departmental payroll and expenses.
  • Schedule all Recreation staff.
  • Administer staff training across the operation.
  • Responsible for spa purchasing, inventories, shelf life tracking, and consumption monitoring.
  • Ensure Recreation equipment inventory is well maintained.
  • Manage cash float and the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain correct pool chemical balance and water testing per Provincial regulations.
  • Attend scheduled hotel meetings and develop/implement children’s programming.
  • Recruit for the department and complete performance management.
  • Design and implement controls for rentals, classes, and programs.
  • Develop and execute yearly marketing plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
