Job summary

A leading aviation services company in Calgary is seeking a Facility Technician to ensure smooth operations at the tarmac. The role includes performing maintenance on fuel storage and distribution equipment, troubleshooting, and providing training to new employees. Candidates should have a college certificate or technical school education, be legally allowed to work in Canada, and possess a valid Provincial Driver's license. Previous aviation industry experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada.
  • Ability to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations.
  • Aviation Industry experience is a plus.

Job description

The Facility Technician works with the Station Manager to perform daily maintenance and preventive maintenance on all facilities and equipment (includes hydrant systems and truck load racks) pertaining to fuel storage and distribution systems and operations. Adheres to all standards, policies, procedures to ensure that the staff are supported by following established procedures and protocols.

Main accountabilities include:
  • Mechanical work involving dismantling, overhauling, repairing, fabrication, assembling, testing, welding, cleaning and painting work related to plant equipment and facilities, pipelines, filtration systems, pumps, motors, valves, equipment, tanks, building, HVAC systems, electrical equipment, instrumentation, computer systems, communications systems, hydrant fuel distribution systems, equipment and facilities.
  • Perform periodic maintenance and inspections on above mentioned equipment and facilities to include metering and gauging equipment and company vehicles.
  • Service equipment with fuel, water, greases, oil, hydraulic fluid, nitrogen and compressed air.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and modify fuel storage facilities and equipment mentioned above as well as pipeline issues, switch gear, and lighting.
  • Diagnose problems using test equipment and applicable manuals. Remove, test, repair or replace components and accessories to include temperature/pressure transmitters, pressure relief valves, manual and motor operated valves, pumps, tank gauge systems, filtration systems components, fuses and other fuel facility components.
  • Check and adjust tolerance of valves, bearing, cam, clutches, shafts and mechanical seals.
  • Replace bearings, mechanical seals, valves, bushings, shafts, springs, fuses, coils, tubing, pumps diaphragms, hoses and wiring as required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and plans of an electrical and mechanical nature.
  • Maintain records relating to maintenance on all fuel facility equipment, facility and components.
  • Provides on the job training and instruction to new employees learning the duties of the classification.
  • Support Fuel Farm Operators and conduct their duties when required.
  • Oversee contractors performing construction or maintenance activities on all fuel facility buildings and equipment.
  • Follow the company safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with company’s and station’s attendance and tardiness policy.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • One-year college certificate or technical school, six months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and legally able to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain all required security clearances including a background check as required by the Airport and Transport Canada.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English. Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations. Ability to work different shifts, weekends and holidays as required.
  • A working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Outlook.
  • Must have a valid Provincial Driver's license in good standing, be able to obtain and maintain a valid DA/AVOP.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
  • Comply with Menzies Uniform Policy.
  • Aviation Industry experience is a plus.
