What to Expect

As a Facility Technician you will be responsible for operating a process (e.g., plant, cryogenic plant, manned compressor stations/treatment facilities), creating notifications in SAP for maintenance concerns, and notifying repairs that need to be made to mechanical systems. You will ensure safe and reliable operations. This broadly skilled position requires the ability to troubleshoot operational concerns and will be assigned a shift at the James Lake Plant, which is staffed around the clock every day.

Assessment Requirement

This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. What You'll Do
  • Perform startup, shutdown, and operation of various equipment/systems, including but not limited to:
    • Gas compression, cryogenic processing units, liquid handling systems
    • Treatment systems such as amine, glycol, etc.
    • Utility systems such as cooling towers, furnaces, hot oil, etc.
  • Conduct routine plant rounds, inspections, and operation of dehydration systems.
  • Operate storage and truck racks (e.g., condensate, wastewater).
  • Work with others to optimize processing throughout the facility and maintain proper product specifications.
  • Respond to alarms and problems within the plant and make appropriate corrections.
  • Conduct routine inspection of equipment and facilities (equipment health, security, AVO).
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair of fixed equipment such as filters, strainers, dehydration systems.
  • Participate in training programs, risk management reviews, and safety meetings required to comply with state and federal regulations and company policy.
  • Review and follow procedures to ensure compliance with all company and industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurately complete documentation such as timesheets, SAP work orders, safe job plans/work permits, and regulatory reports.
  • Optimize work in the most effective manner, aligning with the Maintenance Work Process (MWP) and within the tenets of S.A.F.E. and Stop Work Authority.
  • Work autonomously at varying times and in diverse weather conditions, at remote field locations, and be available for callout.
  • Maintain facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices.
  • Effectively utilize tools and test equipment as needed.
  • Respond to operational emergencies.
  • Perform and accurately document regulatory-required inspections.
  • May oversee contractors providing specialty services (Quality Assurance, Quality Control).
  • Read and comprehend technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Write technical reports and effectively present information to managers and general plant personnel.
  • Perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

    • Work inside or outside including times of heat, humidity, or other inclement weather conditions.
    • Wear personal protective equipment such as flame‑retardant clothing, eye protection, ear protection, steel‑toed boots, hard hat, etc.
    • Safely work around various types of rotating or moving equipment.
What Makes You Stand Out
  • 3 years of operational experience in the oil & gas or relevant industry.
  • 1 or more years of experience in mechanical maintenance, instrumentation, electrical, or measurement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in both independent and team settings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office apps (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Compensation Range

The base pay range for this role is $81,000 - $123,200, depending on candidate’s relevant work experience and education.

Midstream

The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from fields to refineries and finished products to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities.
