The Facility Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and safety of the facility. As a working supervisor, this role will lead a team, coordinate routine tasks, and actively participate in performing regularly scheduled preventative maintenance activities. The Supervisor ensures all systems are functioning efficiently and supports a safe, clean, and productive environment for staff and visitors. This is a hands-on supervisory role that requires both office-based planning and physical work throughout the facility. The Supervisor will be expected to participate in scheduled maintenance, respond to urgent issues, and ensure all staff adhere to safety protocols.

Key Job Duties
  • Supervise and schedule maintenance staff and contractors, ensuring all work is completed to standards.
  • Perform hands-on preventative maintenance on facility equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Monitor the facility for safety hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, records, and reports for all equipment and systems.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Oversee inventory of supplies and replacement parts, ensuring timely procurement.
  • Train and mentor staff on proper maintenance procedures and safe work practices.
  • Assist & develop tactical budget planning and track maintenance expenditures.
  • Collaborate with other departments for facility upgrades and special projects.
  • Ensure scheduled preventative maintenance tasks are completed according to established timelines.
Technical Qualifications
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in facility management, building operations, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in building operations, maintenance, or a similar supervisory role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with preventative maintenance scheduling and record-keeping software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of Canadian workplace health and safety standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to respond to facility emergencies after hours, if required.
  • Certification in Building Operator 1 or 2 program would be considered an asset.
