Scotiabank’s Global Technology Solutions (GTS) Data Centre Operations team provides continuous support for data centres and critical facility spaces worldwide, operating 24/7/365. The Technical Analyst plays a key role in providing technical support and expertise for maintenance, enhancements, and project initiatives, ensuring service availability targets are met and safeguarding data‑centre integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and expertise for ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and project initiatives that support business partners.
  • Ensure service availability targets are consistently met or exceeded while safeguarding the operational integrity of data centres and critical spaces.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Global Technology Systems (GTS) team by executing specific goals, plans, and initiatives in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and schedule preventive maintenance with contracted vendors for critical infrastructure equipment to maintain optimal performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Provide constructive input during shift turnovers to lead personnel and incoming team members.
  • Lead and support 24x7 operational shifts, covering mornings, late afternoons, evenings, overnight, weekends, and statutory/bank holidays, with a focus on weekend night shifts.
Job Requirements
  • Comfortable working rotational shifts in a 24x7 operations environment, 365 days a year.
  • Ability to travel to multiple data centre locations within the Greater Toronto Area and Barrie, Ontario.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills to reduce system downtime and customer impact in time‑sensitive situations.
  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment of varying weights.
  • Technical operations focus on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Minimum 1 year of hands‑on technical experience reconciling magnetic tapes (e.g., Iron Mountain or similar).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience installing and removing network cables in raised floor or top‑of‑rack environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially MS Excel for data input and reporting.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing Level 1 or Level 2 technical support in an operational environment.
  • Superior problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, with the ability to work under pressure in dynamic, high‑stakes situations.
  • Understanding of tape library systems and/or print tools for basic computer operator functions.
  • Post‑secondary education or certification in technology or networking is an asset.
  • Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, or EPS/UPS are considered an asset.
  • Champion a customer‑focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge while understanding the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture.
