Job summary

Paterson Grain in Morris, MB is seeking a hands-on Facility Assistant 3 to handle grain receiving, storage, blending and loading. The role requires lifting up to 25 kg, working outdoors in dusty conditions and on heights, with a focus on safety and grain quality.

You will support operations, monitor grain conditions, operate the Stockdales system, and back up the Facility Manager as needed. Prevailing grain-elevator experience and strong leadership are essential, with availability for evenings

Qualifications

• Experience in grain elevator operations or similar facilities.
• Strong understanding of grain grading, including primary and export grades.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to guide team members.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of grain handling equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, storage, handling, blending, and loading of grain.
• Monitoring stored grain conditions and maintaining a clean and safe facility.
• Perform primary and export grain grading with an understanding of grading standards.
• Operate the Stockdales system, including shipping railcars.
• Troubleshoot alarms or problems in the facility and maintain equipment.
• Support grain blending and binning activities while maintaining grain quality specs.
• Serve as a reliable backup to the Facility Manager and Assistant Manager.
• Move into an Assistant Manager position when qualified.
• Maintain knowledge of facility operations, equipment, and grain processes.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as required.

Job description

Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking a hard-working, hands-on individual to fill the role of Facility Assistant 3 at our Paterson Grain terminal located in Morris, MB. The Facility Assistant will be responsible for all activities related to the handling and shipping of grain. The successful candidate must be capable of working at heights, in dusty conditions and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, storage, handling, blending, and loading of grain.
• Monitoring stored grain conditions and maintaining a clean and safe facility.
• Perform primary and export grain grading with a strong understanding of grading standards and tolerances.
• Operate the Stockdales system, including shipping railcars.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot any alarms or problems in the facility.
• Operate and adjust grain cleaning equipment to maintain commercially clean grain.
• Support grain blending and binning activities while maintaining grain quality specifications.
• Demonstrate leadership and provide guidance to team members as required.
• Serve as a reliable backup to the Facility Manager and Assistant Manager.
• Can be relied upon to run a shift and demonstrate qualifications to move into an Assistant Manager position.
• Maintain a strong understanding of facility operations, equipment functionality, grain cleaning, blending, binning, and grading.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs as required.
• Physically capable of lifting 25 kg.
• Other duties as assigned.
