Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Maintenance Assistant Level I to perform a variety of basic maintenance duties across building interiors, grounds, and equipment. This full-time role supports the Maintenance Manager in ensuring safe, well‑kept spaces for residents and staff.

The position requires Grade 12 and basic trades familiarity; CPR/First Aid are assets. On-site work with on-call responsibilities supporting safety and preventive maintenance initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to organize tasks and prioritize safely.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic maintenance and minor repairs with minimal disruption to residents.
• Assembles and repairs basic furniture and fixtures; paints small areas as needed.
• Maintains clean, hazard-free work areas and supports safety practices.
• Assists with exterior grounds maintenance and routine equipment checks.
• Participates in on-call duties and emergency response as required.
