The Facilities Operator II oversees general day to day arena operations including maintaining the ammonia refrigeration plant and performing general custodial duties for a twin sheet arena. Other duties include general ice maintenance, including operating ice resurfacing equipment, power edging, hand edging, ice measurements, installing and removing ice/related marks, and maintaining quality ice surfaces. This role will also be responsible for completing preventative maintenance, handling custodial tasks and minor construction projects, ensuring building security, and maintaining detailed operational records. The Facilities Operator II must follow all safety procedures, enforce facility rules, handle hazardous materials safely, and ensure a clean, safe environment. They also assist with event setups, support junior staff and new team members, and deliver courteous public service, all in compliance with CWK policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Our ideal candidate holds a Refrigeration Operator Certificate (RO), an Arena Ice Maker’s certificate (or equivalent), and has at least two years of relevant experience. They bring strong knowledge of arena refrigeration systems, ice resurfacing, building maintenance, and safety protocols including WHMIS, emergency procedures, and janitorial best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and DDC building controls is essential, along with excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. The ability to work independently, interact professionally with the public, and adapt to flexible schedules is key. Additional assets include a Forklift certification and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
