Facilities Manager

Facilities Manager

This position is responsible for overseeing and directing the day-to-day operations of the Mississauga facilities, Sonova Canada Inc and CHB warehouse services, amenities, maintenance and repair. In addition, the position is responsible for overseeing all Health and Safety processes and protocols and leading the environmental strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages overall budget for facilities and capital plan
  • Maintains work projects list and ensures contractors and other personnel are assigned accordingly.
  • Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work.
  • Schedule custodial and maintenance vendors to meet work order demand and regular maintenance requirements.
  • Engage with key stakeholders in space planning initiatives.
  • Handle multiple projects and daily activities, meet deadlines, and develop plans on how to accomplish departmental goals.
  • Vendor management including contract negotiation and selection.
  • Procurement and management of office equipment.
  • Negotiate & manage all building maintenance contracts, schedules & vendors.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of office moves and relocations.
  • Review facilities related expenditures to determine opportunities for cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance of building codes, health and safety standards, etc.
  • Responsible to submit purchase requisitions, approve vendor expenditures and recommends approval of financial transactions to process all invoices
  • Responsible for parking space allocation and waste disposal in coordination with building management
  • Participate in Environmental projects and work with vendors and landlord on key environmental initiatives such as local sourcing of renewable electricity, reducing water and energy consumption
  • Tracking action plans related to environmental projects and participating in monthly regional meetings
  • Is a member of the JHSC and ensures any health and safety training or policies are up to date.
  • Ensure all Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and practices meet or exceed legal, corporate, and customer requirements
  • Coordinate all investigative efforts relating to incidents, accidents, spills and other environmental issues ensuring timely and effective resolution of any and all issues arising from such situations in order to minimize the impact to the business and to employees; participate in DM meetings managing Sonova Safety Observation tickets.
  • Foster and reinforce the mind-set of prevention and early intervention as it relates to HS
  • Provide support in employee training and education in the areas of HS
  • Provide knowledge and expertise to the business in order to resolve various HS related issues in order to minimize risk and optimize business opportunity
  • Act as a company representative with the community at large and respond to residential, provincial & municipal inquiries/complaints as required (ie. MOL, Fire Department, Insurance)
  • Any other task as assigned by Management

More about you:

  • Education: secondary or equivalent
  • Nice to have: Completed Supervisor Training Program

Must have previous work experience in facilities management and HS and demonstrate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Building Code

  • 3 + Previous work experience in facilities management and HS (Up-to-date in HS Certification)
  • Nice to have: Previous work experience with hearing aid manufacturing or medical device manufacturer.
  • Proactive and positive attitude towards negotiation and persuasion
  • Excellent multi-tasking , communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make own judgement calls
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • Ability to recognize and suggest continuous process improvements
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Proficient in MS Office

Additional Requirements:

Full compliance with safety and ESD standards, cleanness in the workplace and other policies as described in the Employee Handbook and ISO Manual is mandatory.

This position requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including ability to spot issues in efficiency/productivity and suggest improvements. This position also requires strong knowledge of organizational workflow and ability to delegate by assigning responsibilities and formulating schedules.
